A.M.I.E.T.E. (B.E. EQUIVALENT IN ELECTRONICS & TELECOMMUNICATION)

About the course

Duration:

Section A - 2 years.
Section B - 2 years.

Examination is conducted by Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) . A.M.I.E.T.E. and is recognised by the Govt of India as equivalent to degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The final degree is awarded by IETE. SET is providing regular preparatory classes for the same.

The Governmental of India recognises a pass in the A.M.I.E.T.E. examination at Section A and Section B levels for the purpose of recruitment to executive posts and commissioned ranks in the services in the appropriate fields under the Central Government. Candidates with A.M.I.E.T.E. qualification are eligible to apply for any job in Govt, Public and Private sector where B.E. is prescribed as the minimum eligibility qualification for the post. They are also eligible to pursue Post Graduate courses.


 

 


 

Eligibility

Students who have passed in subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in their 10 + 2 or equivalent examination shall only be eligible for admission. Before the completion of the training, a student will be given practical training in our electronic lab to enable him to qualify for the SET diploma also.

Students those who have cleared Diploma in Electronics are also eligible for admission. They will be exempted from few papers of Section A examination i.e. the total duration for them will be 3 yrs

Course details, duration, ELIGIBILITY and course structure are same for both full time and part time courses.

 

 

 

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPEARING
IN GATE

The relevant extract from the GATE information brochure for eligibility of AMIETE for Appearing in GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) which is the qualifying examination for admission to Master's degree courses in Engineering and Technology conducted by the IIT's and the Indian Institute of Science is given below:

"Those who have completed AMIE, AMAeSI or any other equivalent examinations recognised by the Union Public Services Commission for the purpose of employment are eligible to appear in this stream".

In 1994 GATE authorities have declared that AMIETE students who have completed Sec A can also appear for the GATE Exam. from 1995.

SCOPE AND PROSPECTS AFTER COMPLETION OF THE COURSE (ELECTRONICS)

 

Candidates who successfully complete Section A & B of Associate Membership examination conducted by the I.E.T.E. are treated at par with those holding a degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from an Indian University for recruitment to superior posts and services under the central government. Students who have completed this course, have been successful in the GATE and a number of them after completing M.Tech have gone for further studies. Some of the universities in India and abroad admit these students for higher studies. Those who have successfully completed section A & B examination of the I.E.T.E., are occupying responsible posts in Private, Public Sectors, Government organization, ONGC, IAF, Army, Navy,. Coast Guard, BEL, BHEL and some more of the reputed firms and establishment.

In Continuation of the Ministry's O.M No : 18-94/61-T-2, dated 17th December, 1969, this is to inform that on the recommendations of the Board of Assessment for Educational Qualifications, the Government of India decided that a pass in the examinations of the Indian Professional bodies/Institutions partly by exemption and partly by examination would continue to be treated as recognised for the purpose of recruitment of superior posts and services under the Central Government.

RECOGNITION OF GRADUATE EXAMINATION BY UPSC

 

(Extract of the Press Note Regarding the Recognition of Technical and Professional qualification for the purpose of Admission to the IAS etc. and other examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for Recruitment to Nontechnical Services and posts under the Central Government.)

Vide letter No.F. 17/2/76 (B) dated 31st December, 1977 the Union Public Service Commission have decided that professional and technical qualifications such as a pass in Section A and B of the AMIETE Graduateship Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Aeronautical Society of India etc. Which are recognised by the Government as equivalent to degree in Engineering for the purpose of recruitment to Superior Service/Posts under the Central Government should also be recognised for the purpose of admission to competitive examinations conducted by them for recruitment to non technical services/posts (viz., the IAS etc. Assistant's Grade and Combined Defence Services Examination) for admission to which a degree of recognised University or equivalent has been prescribed as the basic educational qualification.
